The system provides shop floor visibility to your entire enterprise. With a few mouse-clicks, customer service can quickly view the status of a customer order without having to interrupt the shop supervisor. Advanced Manufacturing provides instant visibility to see which employees are currently on the clock in any production facility.
Key Functionality:
- Create a work order from a sales order, on the fly, or create a new work order by copying an existing part routing/bill of material and making changes on a same-as-except basis
- View critical production information, including start dates, manufacturing commit dates, work order status, current log-ins for the job, scheduling data, job cost detail, and labor and outside process transactions
- Report labor in hours per piece, pieces per hour, or discrete batch depending on production cycles and processes
- Use the Data Alerts module to monitor Sage MAS 500 when work order quantities, times, costs, or scrap are over or under the standards by a specified percentage. For example, an e-mail alert will be sent when costs are 20% over the standard for a specific work order

Advanced Planning and Scheduling
Sage MAS 500 ERP includes one of the most powerful and easy-to-use Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) modules available today. This module uses industry-standard scheduling rules to automatically schedule production based on advanced algorithms and mathematical calculations.
Key Functionality:
- Use schedule versions to generate specific schedules for each manufacturing facility and another for the centralized or master schedule
- The APS module includes nine different industry-standard scheduling rules, including: started operations, locked operations, actual before planned, critical ratio, minimum slack, priority code, required date, due date, and entry date
- You can schedule operations backward from required dates or forward from start dates.
- Use your mouse to move scheduled operations backward or forward in time on the schedule board
- Update changes made to planned and actual work orders after you’ve made changes on the schedule board. These changes could effect requirement dates for purchased raw materials and other manufactured component items
For more information, download the Advanced Planning and Scheduling PDF.
Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
Sage MAS 500 ERP uses historical data and advanced replenishment formulas to help you understand current and future material and distribution requirements and how they will affect your business. Unlike legacy MRP systems, Sage MAS 500 provides single-screen planning. This feature provides up-to-date item statistics, including on-hand quantities, current purchase orders, work orders, transfer orders, and other elements that affect planning decisions.
Key Functionality:
- Use MRP versions to generate specific material or distribution plans for each manufacturing warehouse or distribution center and another for the centralized or global plan
- MRP may be filtered using a variety of selection criteria, including buyer codes, item IDs, item classes, item types, purchase product lines, and warehouses. Each of these selection criteria may be set for one or more classifications
- Demand calculations are based on demand by business day as opposed to demand by month, and handle seasonality and other industry-specific requirements
- MRP creates suggested purchase orders, work orders and transfer orders
- MRP picks up the material demand from the Project Accounting system so it can plan for finished goods, component items, and raw material requirements across multiple projects

Electronic Data Interchange - EDI
EDI is a protocol that enables the digital exchange of business and financial documents through a secure network. Unlike traditional processing, which requires manual entry of information between you and your clients’ accounting systems, EDI solutions streamline the exchange of sales orders, purchase orders, invoices, advance shipment notices and functional acknowledgements.
Key Functionality:
- Reduces manual data entry errors and delays that occur with manual processes.
- Reduces the amount of paper your company uses to lower costs
- Increase efficiency as orders are processed instantly and accurately, without the hassle of e-mailing, faxing or mailing information

Product Configurator
Sage MAS 500 ERP Product Configurator module was designed for use in either distribution or manufacturing environments. Customer service personnel benefit from an easy-to-use interface for feature/option selection, and integration with Sales Order Entry.
Key Functionality:
- Engineers choose whether an option, such as color, is displayed during configuration
- Values may be linked to multimedia such as audio, video, bitmaps or TIF images, and CAD drawings. The multimedia options will change as the user builds the final configuration
- Product Configurator not only configures the new item ID, cost and suggested price, but it also creates a new price sheet for each unique configuration
- When configuring an item to meet customer specifications, the base item is chosen from inventory and each option and value is selected from an easy-to-use grid
- Define valid ranges for an option such as length so that valid configurations fall within a range

Engineering Change Management
Quality control is one of the most important business concerns for manufacturers. Sage Software can help you control production costs by producing quality parts for your most demanding customers. The Sage MAS 500 ERP Engineering Change Management (ECM) module integrates with e-mail notifications, providing instant visibility and standardized approval methods for routing and bill of material changes.
Key Functionality:
- Control changes made to labor operations, move times, queue times, setup hours, or other labor-related data for each routing
- Each engineering change may contain up to seven different approval levels
- If the approvals must be made in order, then the e-mail notifications are sent to members of the next sequence group after the previous group has approved the change
- Changes may contain an effective date. This is the date that the new routing/bill of material version will take effect and the old version will become inactive
- The ECM module provides an audit trail to trace a product backward or forward through its engineering life cycle

Key Functionality:
- An estimate may be created from scratch or copied from an existing estimate, work order, or routing/bill of material and changed on a same-as-except basis
- Attachments, such as engineering drawings and customer specifications and correspondence, can be attached to each estimate
- Virtually unlimited internal notes can be created for each estimate. Internal notes print on the estimate but not on quotations
- Estimates may be routed electronically through popular e-mail systems to members of approval groups for sign off on changes made to the estimate
- Built-in tools provide insight into estimate costs, quantities, and times. Analysis shows cost breakdowns for various quantities including total costs, per-piece costs, and gross profit percentage
