Fort Collins, Colo. May 28, 2009 - - The Engineering Company, a Fort Collins-based civil engineering firm, has decided to join with Accounting Systems Inc. to upgrade their Deltek FMS system to Deltek Vision. FMS, their current system is being phased out and will no longer be supported.
“To provide the scalability and support moving into the future while still maintaining the functionality needed in their industry, The Engineering Company’s system needed to be updated,” Consultant Patrick Lien said.
So Becky Warren, controller at The Engineering Company, began looking for a solution. “We started to look at products outside of Deltek to see what fit our needs, but we just kept coming back to Vision,” Warren said. “There were two major attractions. First was reporting, and how much control we could have over it without expensive customization. The other exciting thing was the dashboard and visualization – it’s like one-stop shopping. We can get all the information we want from the dashboard.”
With an extensive background in Win 2 and FMS, Warren would be able to ease the migration from the old Deltek system to the new. Recognizing Warren’s expertise, ASI took her on as a subcontractor to help The Engineering Company and other businesses making the FMS-to-Vision transition.
“I’m excited about it,” Warren said. “It’s the best of both worlds – I can run a system and teach. I always liked the challenge of helping and teaching, and I miss that as a controller. So if I’m needed, I can help Bredt, and we can all work together. It truly is the best of both worlds.”
