Having standard rates across all jobs gives a more standard calculation of project profitability. However, there are circumstances where a company may want to use a different job cost rate for a project that is different than their standard rate to get a more accurate picture of that project’s profitably. You may also want to cost your promotional or overhead projects differently than you do your general client-facing projects.
